E-book readers – just because you can, doesn’t mean you should

When e-readers first became a thing, they were pretty easy to write off as a needless technological gimmick that people would grow to regret buying, like 3D TVs. But, in the manner of a particularly robust terrier, they’ve refused to relinquish their grip on the old sock that is popular culture.

Book Club of One: Twilight Eclipse

Kate reads Twilight books one and two, knows they’re rubbish, but loves Edward Cullen so much that she’ll put up with it. Then she goes on holiday and reads book three, then takes to the internet to complain that it’s not even up to the sub-par standard of the first two.

Getting excited about books: The Unnamed

I’m really irritatingly fussy about books. I have a really specific taste which I’ve never managed to verbalise properly, and can’t help but imagine all kinds of pretentions and arrogances in most novels which probably aren’t even there.
